In fashion designing, there are different tool that are used. Examples are different rulers and curves of different sizes and shapes, Tape rule that calibrated in inches and centers, chalk, Tracing wheel for pattern drafting, pencil, Eraser, paper etc. But here today, my main focus is on the use of the Tape measure.
Tape measurement play a very vital rule in the sense that when it's not properly used it can ruin the fit of a garment. Knowing How to use a take rule is one of the skill an individual needs to learn from an early stage of acquiring the skill.
Your knowledge of fraction and decimal is very important for this Topic, like when I say 2/8 inches it equally means 1/4 which means quarter of an inch, which is also the same thing as saying 0.25Inches. The fraction there is 2/8, 1/4. While the 0.25 is in Decimal.
Let me drive into to Topic quickly, some tape have 16 lines from 0 - 1 inch while some have 8 lines from 0-1 inch. But the common once have 8 lines. Each of the lines represent 1/8. So we have 1/8, 2/8, 3/8, 4/8, 5/8, 6/8, 7/8 and 8/8.
Now as a person who have idea of division. We know that 2/8 is the same as 1/4 still same as 0.25 quarter using you Knowledge of converting Fraction to Decimal. 4/8 is same as 1/2 and same as 0.5 (half). 6/8 is same as 3/4 and same as 0.75 (three quarter) and 8/8 is the same as 1 inch because anything that divde itself is 1.
